Millwright Apprentices 2024
Key Performance Areas
The successful applicant will be provided with an opportunity to register as a millwright apprentice and be provided with the required training and development to qualify as a trade-tested millwright in terms of the conditions prescribed by the FoodBev SETA
Duties and Responsibilities
Installation of Machinery: Assemble, install, and align machinery and equipment according to blueprints, technical drawings as well as specifications.
Maintenance and Repair: Conduct regular maintenance on machinery to make sure optimal performance and Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs.
Precision Alignment: Use precision tools such as levels, micrometers, and laser alignment equipment to make sure the accurate alignment of machinery components.
Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify metal components as needed.
Rigging and Lifting: Safely rig and lift heavy machinery utilizing cranes and other lifting equipment.
Blueprint Reading: Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to comprehend equipment specifications and installation requirements.
Equipment Calibration: Calibrate and adjust machinery to meet operational specifications and industry standards.
Preventive Maintenance: Execute preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of equipment and reduce the likelihood of breakdowns.
Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems: Understand and work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems that are usually integral to the operation of industrial machinery.
Safety Compliance: Stick to safety protocols and regulations to make sure a safe working environment for themselves and others
Documentation: Maintain proper records of work performed, including repairs, maintenance tasks, and equipment specifications
Collaboration: Work near with the other tradespeople, engineers, and project managers to coordinate installations, repairs, and maintenance activities
Upgrading Systems: Stay knowledgeable about technological advancements in machinery and equipment and help in upgrading systems for improved efficiency.
Requirements
Knowledge and Skills: The Company invites all applications from committed candidates who have a minimum technical grade 12/N3 electrical or mechanical certificate in order to facilitate their enrolment as a Millwright apprentice.
